Course description

Turning a passion into a profession is a project that requires careful planning of one's skills and competencies. The training course provides essential knowledge to learn basic mixing techniques and to assess one's abilities and skills. It is also based on a constant dialogue between theory and practice, to learn by directly making cocktails in the classroom.

-The profile of the Bartender or Barman.

-Reception and entertainment of customers, the guest's centrality in the bar, sales strategies.

-Organization of the bar and daily services, bar setup at different times of the day.

-Incoming goods control (quality, quantity, origin, storage, and expiration).

-Management of products (liquids and solids) and standards in food & beverage preparation.

-Equipment and glasses (the importance of the glass in liquid management).

-Classification of beverages: knowledge of non-alcoholic, alcoholic, and superalcoholic drinks.

-Mixing: classification of cocktails and different preparation methods.

-Flavor balancing: preparation of international cocktails.

-Preparation of trendy cocktails. -Preparation of long drinks.

-The origin of alcohol: alcoholic fermentation.

-Extraction and concentration of alcohol: batch and continuous distillation.

-Knowledge of alcohol, effects of alcohol on the body, calculation of grams of alcohol in simple and mixed drinks.

-History, production, and service of flavored wines.

-History, production, and service of aperitif and digestif liqueurs.

-History, production, and service of cereal, wine-based spirits, derived from plants, fruit, and pomace.
